Fleet Network GatheringThe Challenge for Fleets
A 2007 study by the BC Business Council confirmed that the transportation sector accounts for about 40% of greenhouse gas emissions in the province, and is growing.  Reducing these emissions has become a prime goal of the BC Government with the recently announced climate change legislation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 33% by 2020.  As well, the City of Vancouver and other municipalities have committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2012. These targets will prove challenging for fleets to achieve.

Sharing Knowledge, Common Action
The Network will bring together fleets to:

  • Provide information on “greening a fleet”
  • Encourage sharing of experiences and knowledge on green solutions
  • Work together and create partnerships where mutually beneficial

The Network meets quarterly with each meeting focused on specific themes.  The first meeting was held on November 30th 2007 in New Westminster and the second meeting on February 22, 2008 in Coquitlam, BC.
