Green Fleets BC, an independent, nonprofit program, helps fleets in British Columbia find solutions by:
- Providing information on fuel efficient technologies and lower carbon fuels
- Sharing stories of fleets that have successfully made changes to reduce costs and emissions
- Providing tools to evaluate fuel efficient alternatives
- Connecting fleets together via an information sharing network
- Leading and coordinating demonstration programs

The Fraser Basin Council’s Green Fleets program can help you electrify your fleet! Sign up for the GFBC bulletin to learn about first release vehicles from several automakers available to private or public organizations in BC with fleets.
Efforts are underway to support the introduction of electric vehicles in BC. To drive this clean energy initiative, the Province of British Columbia is working with BC Hydro, the Fraser Basin Council (Green Fleets BC program), City of Vancouver, Metro Vancouver, academic institutions and other interests: see PEV partnership. The idea is to lay the groundwork and create the infrastructure for electric vehicles in BC. Electrifying Fleets Green Fleets is helping to lead the deployment of electric vehicles across the province, as part of the Plug-in Electric Vehicle initiative. Green Fleets BC is working with several automakers and with public and private sector fleets to facilitate the roll-out of first-release electric vehicles. Watch for vehicles such as the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, Nissan LEAF, GM Volt and Toyota plug-in Prius among others being road tested in BC communities. Stay Current! R&B Trucking fights tough economy with cleaner fuel-saving truck
VICTORIA, BC (January 27, 2009) – Thanks to support from the provincial government (Ministry of Environment) and the Fraser Basin Council’s Green Fleets BC program, Victoria-based R&B Trucking (a delivery agent for Clark Freightways), is meeting the tough economic times head on with a new diesel-electric hybrid refrigerated delivery truck that’s expected to save the company as much as 35 per cent in fuels costs and reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by more than 20 tonnes per year. It’s all part of the Fraser Basin Council’s Green Fleets BC program, which provides support to trucking companies to help them move towards environmentally friendly practices and technologies. In return for sharing their experiences with others in the industry, participating companies save money, improve worker health and decrease smog and GHG emissions. |

Langley, BC, September 29, 2008: The Fraser Basin Council has awarded the Township of Langley a Silver Rating under the E3 Green Fleet Program for excellence in “greening” its vehicle fleets, making it the first municipality in British Columbia to be recognized for sustainable fleet management. |
